Mayor Ginny Dickey filed paperwork to seek another term as mayor of Fountain Hills.
She was first elected mayor in 2018. Added to her eight plus years as a councilwoman, Dickey brings a wealth of experience and knowledge unlike any other, coupled with four decades as a resident and advocate for Fountain Hills, according to a press release.
Dickey is also an eight-year veteran of the Fountain Hills Unified District Board of Education, serving twice as president. First locally elected in 1994, her role as a leader in this town is continuous and documented.
“I welcome the challenge to finalize long-term strategies to reach acceptable standards for our streets, transitioning to municipal fire services, implementing the new MCSO contract, advocating for the International Dark Sky Discovery Center, and tending to infrastructure needs, including Fountain Lake,” Dickey said in the press release. “Other important personal goals include civility, unity and predictable, fair governance — ensuring an equal voice and respect to all our neighbors. We can successfully move forward even with a variety of individual priorities by working together in good faith. The town has important work to do that requires council’s full attention.
“I believe I bring a measured, informed and steady leadership style to our community, and I stand by my record as a decision-maker. Unfinished projects remain including completion of Park Place, downtown enhancements, improvements to our publicly-owned assets, strategic consideration of economic growth opportunities, and sustaining our current commercial spaces with creative solutions. I want to engage our community in those conversations.”
Dickey serves on Regional Council of the Maricopa Association of Governments and the Arizona League of Cities and Towns Executive Committee. She served professionally as an assistant to an Arizona State Senator, as a legislative representative at ADEQ, and at the Arizona Federal Justice Department as a community liaison.
“I have gained valuable experience and established important relationships necessary to effectively represent our Town. I look forward to continuing to serve Fountain Hills,” Dickey said.
