A former Plattsburgh mayor has announced he’ll be running to return to the city’s top position come November.

Donald Kasprzak previously served as mayor from 2006 to 2014. He was nominated by the City Republican Party and announced his candidacy last Thursday.

Kasprzak is 68 years old and served on Plattsburgh’s Common Council in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Plattsburgh’s current mayor, Democrat Chris Rosenquest, announced he would not be seeking reelection this November.

There are two Democratic candidates vying for their party nomination. Wendell Hughes is a Clinton County Legislator. Daniel Lennon is a former assistant district attorney for Clinton County. They’ll face off in a primary on June 25th.
