Former Mississippi State Senator dies in plane crash in AR, preliminary report released


The pilot of a plane crash that happened in Washington County in May has been identified, and the preliminary report has been released.

According to content partners at 40/29 News, the National Transportation Safety Board released a report on a plane crash that killed former Mississippi State Senator Johnny Morgan.

The plane crash happened on May 17, Morgan was headed to Drake Field for his plane to get serviced, the preliminary report said.

According to the preliminary report, Morgan was having problems with the autopilot system.

NTSB said the plane’s descent into the wooded terrain “was near vertical.”
