FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – The Flint City Council will soon be taking applicants for Flint City Council’s first ward seat.

The seat was left vacant with the death of longtime Councilman Eric Mays on Feb. 24. He had represented the First Ward for over a decade.

The Flint City Council is asking First Ward residents who are interested in the position to send a resume or letter of interest to City Hall. Applications will be accepted from Monday through 5 p.m. March 18.

Council members then will decide on a person to temporarily fill the seat until a special election is held.

Mays’ funeral service is set for March 9 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church.
