Johnson flew back from Kahului late Wednesday as devastating wildfires spread through Maui. “It’s going to sound silly, but I promised my mom I’d be home for her birthday, which is today,” Johnson told KCRA 3. Causeway construction crashes prompt the California Highway Patrol to increase patrols | There have been so many crashes since construction started on Interstate 80 in Yolo County on July 16 the California Highway Patrol is putting more officers on the Causeway to get drivers to slow down and pay attention. One person has already died since construction started almost a month ago, and just this morning, someone on a motorcycle suffered major injuries in a crash. Read more here.Stockton agreement reached to maintain shelter services for unhoused | The city of Stockton has reached an agreement to maintain shelter services for around 300 people experiencing homelessness who were at risk of being displaced. Under the terms of the deal, St. Mary’s Dining Room will take over the sublease of Stockton Shelter for the Homeless as soon as Sept. 1, meaning those impacted will continue to receive services without disruption or by having to relocate.
