Ed Muniz dies, founder of Endymion and former Kenner mayor


The founder of the super krewe Endymion and a former mayor of Kenner has died, according to Endymion’s President Dan Kelly.Ed Muniz passed away on Saturday at the age of 83.Endymion exploded in popularity under Muniz’s leadership.Last week, a sculpture standing at 7 feet tall was dedicated in his honor at Delgado Community College near the spot on Orleans Avenue where the super krewe’s parade begins each Carnival Season. The city of Kenner announced Saturday it would lower flags to half-staff to honor Muniz’s life and legacy.Mayor Mike Glaser released a statement saying Muniz was known for “his transparent and fiscally conservative values.”Glaser shared his deepest condolences to the family and friends of Muniz.
