Dear Editor:
I would like to comment about our Fearless Leader who got elected to another term, which I found to be disappointing because I thought someone would have the guts to challenge him for the mayor’s office, but people were afraid to put their hat in the ring when it mattered the most.
The election was a disappointment. It seems clear, in my opinion, that he cannot do the job and he cannot live up to the standards the people elected him to. Since he first came into office he has not governed for everyone in Salida – he has done it for one group of people – they are called the minority. We did not ask for a mayor like this.
Also I think and believe he does not benefit the city, but does it for the money. I don’t think he shows strong leadership. He has made some poor decisions like doing affordable housing the wrong way, the lawsuit with Poncha Springs, building a new fire station and using grants that will put the city in debt, not doing anything about the arson fire on Walnut Street and not doing anything about the parking in downtown.
I believe he has lost all of his objectivity when it comes to doing his job and is not focused on what the town needs. I believe he does not like to be told the truth when he is wrong because he always thinks he is correct. I think he has two personalities, one in the community and one in the council meetings. I do not believe his behavior is normal when it comes to yelling and screaming at women during citizen comments at the meetings.
There is no transparency with this mayor. I think this is not a fabric of our culture in Salida, and this is not what we stand for and we are better than this. Over the last six years he has taken us down a rabbit hole. I think it has become clear to me he is not fit for the office he was elected to. I think they will go down as the worst administration ever in modern times with the exception of Trump and the Republicans.
