DAVENPORT, Iowa — Disruptions at Wednesday night’s Davenport City Council meeting delayed voting on the appointment of interim City Attorney Brian Heyer and a proposed pay raise.
The meeting ended early when outbursts rang out, which prompted Mayor Mike Matson to kick people out of the meeting, along with ending the public livestream.
People were allowed back in afterwards, and the council deleted the agenda item on Heyer. The meeting then ended without the council discussing any other business, officials said. A city hall spokesperson said that the council did not vote on appointing Heyer or the pay raise at Wednesday’s meeting.
The council did approve the appointment of Mallory Merritt into the Interim City Administrator role but did not approve a proposed pay increase for her.
