Curfew proposal to go before Jackson City Council | #citycouncil


The Jackson City Council could vote this week on a curfew. Councilman Kenneth Stokes was joined Tuesday by representatives from organizations, including Reset Jackson, to preview the proposed curfew ordinance. They claim that Jackson residents want the curfew to put a stop to the growing number of robberies and crimes that they say are being committed by young people.”They are our children. Any child that dies in Jackson is ours and we need to be concerned and sensitive to death,” Stokes said. “The curfew is a step in the right direction.”The curfew would be from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and midnight to 6 a.m. on weekends for those under the age of 18. The council plans to vote on the ordinance during a meeting Wednesday.
