Dr. Mildred García has been appointed to serve as the 11th California State University chancellor by the CSU Board of Trustees. García has previous experience as the president of Cal State University and currently serves as the president of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. According to a statement from California State University, García is the first Latina CSU chancellor ever.
