COLUMBIA, Miss. (WDAM) – Columbia Mayor Justin McKenzie wants to see residents get in shape, so he invited them to go on a walk around the park on Tuesday.
McKenzie and several dozen residents participated in an event called, “Walk a Mile with the Mayor.“
It took place at Friendship Park at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
The goal was to encourage everyone in town to get out and enjoy their park.
“This is a beautiful park in a great neighborhood, it’s a safe place to walk and we want to encourage folks to get out and enjoy it,” said McKenzie.
People ranging in age from three to 89 were expected to walk in the event.
