The Claremont City Council voted Wednesday night to remove a man from multiple committees after years-old allegations came to light.Former police officer and state representative Jon Stone is accused of making violent threats and having an inappropriate relationship with a teenager while serving on the police force. He helped me a great deal in my last election; however, once I read all of the information that came forward, and before this came forward, there were rumors that went around for years in this community, but then I read what I read, and I was horrified absolutely horrified,” said Claremont Assistant Mayor Debora Matteau.Matteau’s was met with some pushback.”I think we should get a legal opinion just to make sure we’re on good grounds to do that,” said Claremont Councilor-at-large William Limoges.Both motions passed in 5-3 votes.After the 2006 investigations, Stone eventually reached an agreement to resign from the Claremont Police Department.News 9 reached out to Stone for comment but did not get a response.
