The city of Hinesville has a new mayor.Karl Riles was sworn in Thursday afternoon inside city hall. Riles gave up his District 5 seat on the city council to run for mayor.Riles said his first order of business will be to focus on the city’s downtown area.”Instilling a sense of home in Hinesville. I think we can do that by going back to our routes, which is this downtown area. I think if we get downtown businesses started and attract more small businesses, give people more things to do in the community, I think people will take ownership in the community and that will spread. So I think downtown is something we need to focus on immediately,” Riles said.Riles said he also intends to address the growth Hinesville will likely experience in the coming months and years.
