City officials will hold a special public hearing tonight regarding an amendment to the 2018 Annual Action Plan prior to the month’s second work session.
The public hearing, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, will give the public the opportunity to address the 2018 Annual Action Plan and learn more information regarding the proposed amendment.
The 2018 Annual Action Plan includes the city’s Community Development Block Grant funding, which is meant to assist with the development of communities by providing affordable housing, economic opportunities for residents with low and moderate incomes and a “suitable” living environment.
The Housing Committee will not meet tonight due to the public hearing at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., the Finance Committee will meet at 7 p.m. in the mayor’s office, the Public Safety Committee will meet in the police training room and the Public Works Committee will meet in the Department of Development conference room.
Following tonight’s public hearing and individual committee meetings, the City Council will meet for its full work session at 7:30 in the police training room. The public is welcome to attend.
City officials are expected to continue to discuss the resolution that would lift the hiring freeze and allow the Jamestown Fire Department to hire eight additional firefighters under the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant.
The City Council will also discuss multiple resolutions that would allow city officials and employees to attend various trainings and conferences, as well as a resolution that would approve the purchase of two dump trucks for the Department of Public Works.
City officials will also hold a special meeting tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the mayor’s conference room at City Hall. The meeting will feature a discussion between City Council members and representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency regarding the SAFER grant.
Following the City Council’s decision to table the SAFER grant during April’s voting session, the city administration and the City Council agreed that a special meeting with FEMA would be beneficial so that City Council members could have every question answered before making a decision on whether to hire the eight additional firefighters. The public is welcome to attend the special tomorrow’s special meeting.
