City Council member Diana Ayala, chair of the City Council’s General Welfare Committee, said Friday that the committee is demanding more transparency from the Administration for Children’s Services.
The call comes one month after NY1 ran an investigative series looking into the deaths of children under the care of the administration.
One of the cases focuses on was that of Erin Merdy, who allegedly drowned her three children off the coast of Coney Island. The state has issued a report citing numerous mistakes ACS had made in handling that case, and during an appearance on “Mornings On 1,” Ayala said the City Council will be demanding better communication.
