City Council meetings rescheduled for Monday | Local News | #citycouncil

SALEM — Two City Council meetings scheduled for Thursday night, Feb. 8, have been rescheduled for Monday due to technical issues tied to the timely posting of meeting agendas.

The City Council, with regular meetings set for the second and fourth Thursday of each month, will meet Monday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. to handle the agenda that was postponed. A committee meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. was also postponed to the same timeslot on Monday.

Under the state’s Open Meeting Law, governing bodies must have agendas for meetings posted at least 48 hours prior to being held, with postings taking place in a designated area. In Salem, the city website’s meeting calendar is treated as the primary posting location.

With the meetings set for Thursday, agendas were required to be posted Tuesday afternoon, a process that normally plays out without issue.

A notice updating the main Thursday meeting attributed the issue to “technical issues with the website. The new agenda and backup for this rescheduled meeting will be posted tomorrow … and will include the new Zoom links.”
