City Council meeting agenda includes library, City Hall decisions | #citycouncil

The Philomath City Council plans to take the next steps on a couple of noteworthy projects during its meeting Monday night — the awarding of a contract to complete a library expansion feasibility study and review of a preliminary design for a Philomath City Hall remodeling project.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. March 11 at City Hall. For those not attending in person, the meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.

An evaluation team has forwarded a recommendation to the council for the Philomath Community Library feasibility study, which if approved, carries a bid of $47,600. Nine companies put in proposals for the job.

The City Hall project includes improved accessibility and security, additional office space and an exterior facelift to blend in with the Timber Town theme.

Also on the agenda, councilors plan to approve a firm to perform financial audits, review a request for proposals for the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo grandstands and arena lighting project at Skirvin Park and approve membership in the newly-created Housing and Economic Development Committee.

Preceding the meeting, the council plans to meet at 5:30 p.m. for a work session to discuss the city’s Strategic Plan and upcoming budget. Work sessions are open to the public.

After the regular meeting, the council may adjourn into an executive session as allowed by state law to consult legal counsel regarding litigation-related matters. Executive sessions are closed to the public.
