(July 13)According to Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby’s office, the City Council Rules and Legislative Oversight Committee postponed the Aug. 15 hearing for Acting Police Commissioner Richard Worley’s nomination to a date that will be announced soon.WBALTV.com has an inquiry into the City Council asking why the hearing is postponed. At a June 8 news conference, Mayor Brandon Scott announced Michael Harrison would step down as commissioner and named Worley as acting commissioner. The I-Team confirmed last month that Worley never interviewed for the BPD’s top job and was only told about his appointment at 11:30 p.m. the night before the news conference.A series of seven community meetings will be held for the public to meet with Worley, hear his vision for the Baltimore Police Department and voice their concerns.In addition to the town-hall style meetings, there will be a virtual meeting and two telephone town halls, with one specifically catered to older adults.
