CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – At Tuesday’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and Council approved a resolution authorizing a one-year service agreement with the Nueces River Authority of Uvalde, Texas, for an amount not to exceed $61,125 to provide water conservation education to approximately 4,021 students in local school districts.
The water conservation education program provided by the Nueces River Authority will be taught by certified educators to 5th-grade public school students in six independent school districts (ISDs) in the City of Corpus Christi for the 2023-2024 school year. The districts include Corpus Christi ISD, London ISD, Tuloso-Midway ISD, Calallen ISD, West Oso ISD, and Flour Bluff ISD.
The education program will use a watershed model and other hands-on activities to show students how pollutants enter and contaminate rivers, bays, and aquifers and how they can help protect and conserve our water resources.
This program is part of Corpus Christi Water’s Conservation 365 initiative to educate the public about water conservation 365 days a year.
