City council approves construction for new CSI building in Huntsville | News | #citycouncil

Thursday night, the Huntsville City council approved construction for a new 14,000-square-foot Crime Scene Investigation building.

The building will have labs, office space, areas for processing evidence, and vehicle processing bays.

Huntsville Police says the new facility will allow them to meet legal storage requirements and provide more room to work on multiple cases at a time as well as securely protect evidence from cross-contamination.

The new CSI building will be constructed on Wheeler Avenue across from the headquarters for Huntsville Police.

Work on the building is expected to begin in late spring and is expected to take one year to complete.
