Casper’s proposed fleet update: A $446K decision awaits City Council approval | #citycouncil


CASPER, Wyo. — At the upcoming Casper City Council meeting scheduled for Dec 19, councilmembers will review and decide on significant vehicle purchases for various city departments, with a total cost of $446,987.35.

The proposed acquisitions include a diverse range of essential service vehicles, according to purchase recommendations for the City Council.

This includes one new 53-foot box van trailer for the Solid Waste Facility, priced at $56,575.35, and a new turf utility vehicle for Highland Cemetery, coming in at $49,100.00. The turf utility vehicle is earmarked for cemetery maintenance work.

Additionally, the council will consider the purchase of two new utility all-terrain vehicles totaling $65,300.00. These vehicles are designated for the Weed and Pest Division and the Waste Water Treatment Plant. The vehicles will be used in operations like weed control and monitoring of the water treatment facilities.

Public Service Department Upgrades

In an upgrade for the Waste Water Collections of the Public Services Department, two new half-ton crew cab 4×4 pickup trucks with 8-foot beds are on the list, at a combined price of $75,770.00. These trucks will be used for routine inspections and maintenance activities.

Also included in the purchase list is one new one-ton crew cab pickup truck with an 8-foot bed and Tommy lift gate, priced at $60,336.00, designated for the Special Waste Division of the Public Services Department. This vehicle will assist in the transport and disposal of special waste materials.

The final item on the agenda is the approval of one new half-ton extended cab 4×4 pickup truck with a 6-foot bed and one new three-quarter-ton extended cab 4×4 pickup truck with an 8-foot bed. The former is priced at $42,659.00, while the latter comes in at $43,975.00. Both are for the Water Distribution Division.

Greiner Ford of Casper has provided the lowest bid for most of the trucks, with Utility Trailer Sales of Colorado bidding for the box truck and Stotz Equipment of Casper putting in the lowest bid on the turf truck and all-terrain vehicles.

With City Hall under renovation, the council will meet at The Lyric, 230 W. Yellowstone Highway, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be public and streamed on the City of Casper’s YouTube channel.
