California Governor Newsom falls to ground during children’s basketball game in China

  • California Governor Gavin Newsom set off for a trip to China this past week
  • While there he joined in on a basketball game where he knocked a child down
  • Video captured the moment Newsom and the boy fell to the ground

California Governor Gavin Newsom hit the basketball court during his trip to China and managed to take a little boy down during his on-court antics.

In a video posted to X, Newsom wears a white dress shirt and blue dress pants as he spins the basketball on his finger.

As he starts to dribble the ball, he makes a quick spin move before he crosses over to the middle of the green court.

Just as he gets to the center of the court, he savagely knocks down a little boy and playfully wraps his arm around the child as they both fall to the ground.

Newsom and the boy soon get up as the Governor laughs it off and says, ‘I got you!’ and the boy chuckles as they get back on their feet.

Newsom’s trip to China kicked off on Monday in Hong Kong on a single mission to discuss climate change, even after eight California GOP House Members insisted that he cancel the trip.

Republicans have also said Newsom needs to discuss human rights abuses and fentanyl production while on the visit.

The California Governor has continued to make headlines recently with suspicions that he is planning on running for president in the 2024 election. He has continued to deny these claims.

Before he landed in China, Newsom traveled to Israel on Friday, and after Hong Kong he headed to Beijing, Shanghai, the Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces.

He was welcomed with open arms once he arrived in the country as Robert Desantis called him and Chinese President Xi Jinping ‘two peas in a pod’.

Newsom has promised to keep his time in China all about climate change, despite the intense war going on in Israel and Palestine.

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, argued Newsom’s trip gives China the upper hand.

She told Politico Newsom’s focus ‘is not on addressing climate issues, but instead ceding America’s energy and emissions reduction to the CCP.’

The CCP is the Communist Party of China which was originally established in 1949 and is what controls the Chinese government.

While the United States and Europe keep trying to reduce carbon emissions, China’s carbon use keeps rising.

The Chinese government itself estimates that 80 percent of the groundwater in China is polluted and a similar percentage of major river basins are ‘unsafe for human contact.’

Desantis told DailyMail.com that Jinping and Newsom share similar ‘harsh’ approaches when it comes to controlling the ones they govern, especially in relation to COVID-19.

Newsom became the first governor in more than four years to travel to China. He was also the first since 2017 to meet President Jinping, as the former Gov. Jerry Brown met with him last.

Ahead of a meeting with Wang Yi, China’s top diplomat on Wednesday, Newsom said: ‘I’m here in expectation, as you suggest, of turning the page, of renewing our friendship and reengaging [sic] foundational and fundamental issues that will determine our collective faith in the future.’

The East Bay Times reported that Jinping and Newsom touched on ‘ways to accelerate our progress on climate in meaningful and substantive ways,’ Newsom said in a news conference.

Some flocked to the video of Newsom as he played basketball with the kids in China with a mix of both positive and negative reactions.

‘I don’t know why people are mocking him for this; this makes him look cooler,’ one said.

Another said: ‘This is the funniest thing that I’ve seen in a long time. HANDS DOWN.’

Others made sly remarks about the Governor’s trip to China.

Newsom has gotten a lot of backlash for his trip to China as many Republicans wanted him to cancel his journey that he said is solely based on discussing climate change
Commenters swarmed under the video of Newsom knocking down the child while he played basketball in China, as some wish he’s focused on the crimanal issue in his state of California instead

‘Well it’s a good thing there’s nothing for him to do in California,’ a comment said.

Another commenter said: ‘Man, he is having so much fun in China and he probably almost forgot all the troubles in CA!’

The state of California has continued to suffer from flash robberies as the lawless Democratic state, run by Newsom, has seen an exodus of deserted offices and countless businesses shuttered as opioid-addicted vagrants fill the sidewalks.

San Francisco has just decided to push back on their fight against homelessness and street vendors ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
