Calico Rock Community Foundation awards grants for local museum

The Calico Rock Community Foundation were recently presented two grants for two community projects by the Heritage Division of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Tourism and Heritage.

A $5,000 public art grant was awarded for the creation of Rainbow Trout which have been affixed to streetlights in the Main Street Historic District.

The second grant for $5,000, will go towards a Jamboree featuring bands in concert on April 6 during the Total Solar Eclipse event which will take place in Rand City Park.

These grants were funded, in part, by the Arkansas conservation sales tax program.

The grants were supported by Mayor Greg Hamby, Izard County Judge Eric Smith and State Representative Steven Walker.

While in town, the officials from the Hertiage Division toured the Calico Rock Museum, visited Main Street business owners and enjoyed lunch catered by the Printing Press Cafe.
