Bismarck Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast set for May 16

Former longtime National Information Solutions Cooperative President and CEO Vern Dosch will be the featured speaker for this year’s Bismarck Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast.

Vern Dosch

Dosch from 2002-20 headed the company that develops and supports accounting, billing and engineering software for more than 860 electric co-ops, telephone companies, municipalities and broadband providers in all 50 states, American Samoa, Palau and Canada. When he retired he helped the state of North Dakota in software development and the response to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2021 he was inducted into the National Cooperative Hall of Fame. He also has served on numerous boards in the Bismarck-Mandan community, and NISC’s Mandan campus is named in his honor.

“When it comes to the spirit of serving, I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a better example of it than Vern Dosch,” Crisis Care Chaplaincy Chaplain Greg Carr said. “From his work with software solutions throughout the country to his support of so many community organizations, Vern has shown there are no limits to how you can make the world around you a better place.”

Proceeds from the prayer breakfast hosted by Mayor Mike Schmitz support the Crisis Care Chaplaincy, which serves first responders, law officers, firefighters and people experiencing traumatic events.

“Crisis Care Chaplaincy fills a critical need every day in our community,” Schmitz said. “For 45 years the chaplains with this organization have been available to individuals who are often experiencing tragic circumstances.”
