On Tuesday, the city council approved $85,000 to spend on a 22-foot Clark Dura sport boat that will benefit both the police and fire departments. The boat will be purchased from Clark Boat Company, which is, coincidentally, located in Bellevue, Iowa. It received unanimous approval with no discussion at the meeting. According to the initial proposal from Police Chief Ken Clary, Bellevue first responders don’t currently have an operational boat to respond to emergencies that occur on the Missouri River and “the purchase of this boat will enable both police and fire to train and respond to swift water emergency events on the river.”Bellevue is expected to receive the boat in 90 to 120 days.
