Belle City Hall searched by Maries County Sheriff, mayor is ‘sole person of interest’

BELLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A search warrant was executed at Belle City Hall on Wednesday and the Maries County Sheriff says Mayor Daryl White is the sole person of interest.

Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman said in an email that it would be executing a search warrant at City Hall.

Heitman told ABC 17 News that it received a report about items stolen and got a search warrant for financial records and other evidence. Deputies took several documents from city hall, including financial records, Heitman.

Heitman said that law enforcement tried contacting White at his home, business and by phone, but were not unable to get ahold of him. There is no pending warrant for his arrest.

Belle City Hall will be closed for the day.

Heitman wrote in a Facebook post that the Missouri State Highway Patrol and City of Belle Marshal Jerry Coborn is also investigating.

ABC 17 News has reached out to MSHP and the City of Belle.
