A barge became stuck on the Arkansas River between Fort Smith and Van Buren Tuesday, according to a spokesperson with the U.S. Coast Guard.The barge got stuck at about mile marker 296, which is near Lock and Dam 13.Crews were able to free the barge and were working to get it moving again at 5 p.m.The barge was headed to New Orleans, carrying wheat, according to Marty Shell, president of Five Rivers Distribution. It wasn’t clear if the barge will continue to that destination.
