FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — Poll watchers have all been trained and are ready. Voting machines have been tested, and soon, it will be time for voters to have their say at the 59 polling places across Baldwin County.
Because of the massive growth in the county, some new voting precincts have been created, and some have changed locations this election cycle. Those voters should have received new voting cards if their polling place has changed.
Baldwin County Probate Judge Harry D’Olive expects a low voter turnout for the primary but a “tremendous” turnout for the general election in November.
Tuesday also marks the first election held under Alabama’s new Congressional map that was redrawn last year. The race of interest in Baldwin County is the District 1 race between incumbent Jerry Carl and current District 2 Congressman Barry Moore. Baldwin County is a crucial win for both campaigns.
Voters are encouraged to take a look at “sample” ballots online before heading to the polls, which are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
