The audit into Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ office concerning the purchase of an almost $20,000 lectern has been released.The audit states that the Governor’s Office was potentially non-compliant with state law on seven occasions. Including paying for the podium before it was delivered, applying the purchase to operating expenses, and the Execuitve Assistant to the Governor’s Office Deputy Chief of Staff making handwritten notations and altering public record after it was entered into AASIS. The Governor’s Office says that “no laws were broken” and that the office “welcomed this audit.”The committee last year approved the request to review the purchase of the lectern, which had drawn nationwide scrutiny over its costs and questions about public records surrounding it.The 3 1/4-foot-tall (1-meter-tall) blue and wood-paneled lectern was bought in June with a state credit card for $19,029.25 from an events company in Virginia.The Republican Party of Arkansas reimbursed the state for the purchase on Sept. 14, and Sanders’ office has called the use of the state credit card an accounting error.
