BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Arvin community gathered Saturday to celebrate the life and legacy of former city Mayor Olivia Trujillo who passed away early this month.
A special ceremony was held at Arvin City Hall on March 24. Her daughter, Olivia Trujillo, says she will always be a part of Arvin.
“We are dedicating this tree so that whenever you come through the doors of City Hall, whenever you drive by you remember this wonderful woman who made history,” said Olivia Trujillo. “The first woman, first immigrant, Latina who ran for mayor who had the courage to say, “I can make a positive difference. I am worthy, and my mother lives on.”
