The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts has received a $250,000 grant from Bank of America, funds that will bring the museum in Little Rock closer to completing its years-long redesign and renovation.
“For more than six decades, AMFA has been a pillar to our community, and we’re proud to be partners in its next chapter,” Heather Albright, president of Bank of America Arkansas, said in a news release.
The money is part of $4 million in grants that Bank of America has invested in Arkansas over the past five years. In 2021 alone, the company provided 24 grants to local nonprofits, including Our House Shelter, Arkansas Foodbank, the PARK Foundation, Baptist Health Foundation and Samaritan Community Center of Northwest Arkansas.
“Bank of America is a significant long-term partner of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts,” Victoria Ramirez, the museum’s executive director, said in the release. “For years, they have generously supported our exhibitions and arts education programs, and now we can include them as a contributor to our capital campaign.
“Gifts such as this are instrumental to our ability to open in spring 2023 with state-of-the-art galleries, an expanded art school, and an upgraded performing arts theater.”
The museum in September announced it had raised $150.4 million in capital for the project, surpassing a goal of $142 million. A final fundraising target of $155 million has been set.
The museum plans to reopen on April 22, 2023.
