NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A new initiative is providing an opportunity to recognize Latinos who have made a significant contribution to Arkansas.

A release Friday stated that the Arkansas Latino Hall of Fame has been launched, and nominations for its inaugural class are being accepted through June 14. The hall of fame was established by the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce with the mission to foster unity, honor cultural richness, and amplify Natural State Latino voices.

Officials said nominations are not limited to a certain field or accomplishment and are for Latinos who have:

  • Made significant and enduring contributions to their field of endeavor, professional or otherwise.
  • Affected the social, cultural, economic, or political well-being of the community, state or nation.
  • Elevated the status of Latinos and positively impacted the Latino community.
  • Helped open new frontiers for Latinos and for society in general.
  • Inspired others by their example.

β€œThe importance of recognizing individuals who have contributed to the enrichment of our state serves to inspire the next generation of leaders,” Chair of the Arkansas Latino Hall of Fame Angele Galvis Schnuerle said.

The induction of honorees will take place Oct. 24 at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock.

Nominations may be made, and additional information can be found at ARLatinoHallofFame.com.

North Little Rock chamber representatives said the initiative represents its commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and community engagement.
