In 2024, Lucas promised Gates Bar-B-Q to San Francisco Mayor London Breed if the Chiefs had not come away from the game with the Lombardi Trophy. Gates was the same BBQ on offer when the Chiefs played the 49ers in Miami for the Super Bowl in 2020.“You don’t get days like this all the time. Me and George (Gates) and a lot of Kansas Citians had a long gap between our first Super Bowl and victory and our second one,” Lucas said when he announced the bet ahead of the game. “So, we look forward to cherishing this exceptional moment in Kansas City and throughout all of Chief Kingdom.”There’s still some good news for San Francisco. Lucas says he’ll still send some Gates to first responders he met during his last trip to the city. During the 2024 NFL Postseason, Lucas bet LC’s to Miami, Joe’s BBQ for Buffalo, and Jack Stack that would have gone to Baltimore. At this point, it’s starting to feel like these bets are rigged in Kansas City’s favor. But, that just seems to be how the script is written.
