Aiken City Council recognizes Constitution Day | Local News | #citycouncil


Sept. 17 marked the 235th anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution at the Constitutional Convention. It is also Constitution Day in Aiken.

Aiken City Council declared Sept. 17 Constitution Day during its public meeting on Sept. 12. Constitution week is held annual Sept. 17-23. The U.S. Constitution secures the blessings of liberty and justice for all Americans and forms the foundation of all federal laws.

Joining the City Council for the proclamation were the members of the Esther Marion, Henry Middleton and Trenton chapters of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Henry Laurens Sons of the American Revolution Chapter and the William Stroud Children of the American Revolution Society.

William Stroud C.A.R. Society President Kelley Widell said she appreciated all the lineage organizations that supported this proclamation.
