ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque City Council will be meeting for the third time of the New Year on Monday, but the biggest draw may not even happen.
The city council sent the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) a letter questioning Chief Harold Medina’s actions regarding the bombshell federal investigation of some officers’ DWI cases being dismissed.
The letter demands Chief Medina appear before the council on Monday to answer questions about procedure and policy.

KRQE asked Chief Medina if he would be attending the meeting during a press conference, and he said legal officials are looking at the situation because it may require an executive session. However, he shared that he sent a letter back to the council, which answered several questions on procedure and policy. That letter can be seen below.
Other happenings at the meeting will include the mayor’s cabinet appointments to things affecting the city such as civilian police oversight and government accountability positions.
Another big item on the agenda will be the creation of a group that evaluates the city’s hotel voucher program and its effectiveness.
