LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — More than 30 farms across Arkansas who have been owned by the same family for at least 100 years were inducted into the Century Farm Program at the Capitol Monday.
The 36 farms located in 25 counties throughout the state were recognized by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Department of Agriculture Secretary Wes Ward as having at least 10 acres of farmland owned by the same family for at least 100 years.
A country that can’t feed itself, fuel itself, and clothe itself can’t survive. That’s why it’s so important to thank and support our farmers,” Sanders said. “[I was] honored to join the newest inductees to Arkansas’ Century Farm Program. These 36 families have farmed the same land for over a century.”
The program, created in 2012 by the state’s agricultural department, was established to highlight the contributions of the families to the agriculture industry in Arkansas.
Agriculture is the largest industry in Arkansas and contributes more than $20.9 billion to the state’s economy annually, the department said. They said of the 41,900 farms in the state, 96% are family-owned.
Farms inducted this year include:

- Cleburne County – Abram Agriculture, Timber, and Wildlife Farm (Est. 1921)
- Conway County – Houston Farm (Est. 1884)
- Craighead County – Ridge Family Farm (Est. 1920)
- Dallas County – HEW Farm (Est. 1884)
- Faulkner County – Dan-Harton Farm (Est. 1912), Hazel Farm (Est. 1857), Patton Farms (Est. 1889), Webb Family Farm (Est. 1869)
- Fulton County – Hensley Farm (Est. 1915)
- Greene County – Reddick Farm (Est.1911)
- Hempstead County – Phillips Family Farm (Est. 1883)
- Howard County – Ponder Family Farm (Est. 1907)
