MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Alabama voters will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the 2024 primary election.

Voters throughout the state will have the opportunity to select a presidential candidate for both the Republican and Democratic parties, as well as various other positions on the federal, state and county levels.

Feb. 29 was the last day for voters to apply in person for absentee ballots, and those ballots, if returned by mail, must be received by noon on March 5. The last day to hand-deliver absentee ballots is Monday, March 4.

If a primary runoff election is necessary in any of the races, that election will take place on April 16.
