10 candidates file for Jefferson City Council seats | #citycouncil


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Ten candidates have filed to run for a Jefferson City Council seat for the April 2 election.

One seat for all of Jefferson City’s wards will be open for elections. Candidate filing closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Councilmembers serve two-year terms. Councilmembers also have term limits of eight consecutive years. If a term limit is reached for a candidate, a full two-year term must pass before that member is eligible to run again, according the city’s website.

Randy Hoselton will run against incumbent Ward 1 Councilman Jack Deeken. Ward 2 Councilman Michael Lester is running again and will face Darrel Bryan in the election.

Amy Brix and Treaka Young are each running for the Third Ward seat. Ward 4 Councilman Randall Z. Wright – an incumbent – is running against Chris Leuckel.

Mackenzie Job is running for the Fifth Ward seat, as is Virginia Shetler, who filed at 10 a.m. Friday.
