Sean Hannity rails against Mitch McConnell over Alaska Senate race | #alaska | #politics

Fox News host Sean Hannity scolded Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) over his support for the Republican incumbent in the Senate race in Alaska.

He did so during an interview Tuesday night with GOP candidate Kelly Tshibaka, whose race against Sen. Lisa Murkowski has become a proxy war between McConnell and former President Donald Trump.

“This really bothers me. Because the Republicans in Alaska have chosen you, and are choosing you, over Lisa Murkowski. Why is Mitch McConnell involving himself in an intramural battle like this when you would be a great senator for the people of Alaska?” Hannity said. “You believe in energy independence. You believe in secure borders. You believe in law and order. … You are a rock-solid conservative,” he added.

McConnell backs Murkowski, a centrist Republican, while Trump supports Tshibaka in Alaska, which has a ranked choice voting system. The Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC tied to McConnell, has paid for ads in Alaska attacking Tshibaka.

Tshibaka guessed that McConnell opposes her campaign because, in her view, he would rather have a minority in the Senate he can control rather than a majority he cannot keep in line and because she aims to hold “government insiders accountable.”

Hannity said the people of Alaska “don’t need to hear from Washington and Mitch McConnell, the Kentucky senator, weighing in with million dollars that he’s getting from inside the party to fight against the party.”
