The organization will get $1.5 million to plan events for 2023 and 2024.Officials said Sacramento’s tourism industry took a big hit because of the pandemic, and they are more than ready to do whatever it takes to attract more people to town.One of the events that proved to be very successful for Sacramento was Aftershock, which happened last October. The four-day music festival at Discovery Park generated $24 million and had 150,000 attendees.The event will return this October with headliners like Rob Zombie, Kiss and Papa Roach.The funds for this grant come from the American Rescue Plan. With more activities returning, money is available to help communities recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.City officials said arts and entertainment events benefit Sacramento as a whole.
