HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – The cities of Huntsville and Scottsboro held municipal elections on Aug. 23 for positions on councils and the boards of education.

Two of Huntsville’s races will require runoffs in September. City Council District 2 candidates David Little and Bill Yell received 43% and 24% respectively. In the race for Huntsville Board of Education District 3, Andrea Alvarez received 48% of the vote while competitor Angela McClure received 27%.

These races will be back on the ballot on September 20.

Voters will head back to the polls in September to make the final decision on two Huntsville races on yesterday’s ballot.

The elected officials will be sworn in on Nov. 7.
