New year, new Hastings City Council: Mayor Fasbender, incoming City Councilmembers to be sworn in during City Council meeting | Local News | #citycouncil

Mayor Mary Fasbender and At-Large Councilmember-elects Angie Haus and Dave Pemble will be sworn into their respective offices at the upcoming City Council meeting on Jan. 3.

Fasbender’s oath of office for mayor will truly be a formality considering she ran for reelection and was unopposed. Haus and Pemble are both fresh faces to city government and will be serving their first ever terms in a public office. They will be filling the shoes of outgoing Councilmembers Lori Braucks and Mark Vaughan, who both return to private citizenship after matching eight-year tenures.

The first order of business for the City Council in the new year will be recognizing outgoing Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority Commissioner Scott Sinclair. Sinclair has served on HEDRA since 2017 and most recently as the commission’s vice president.

The City Council will vote on a resolution to approve micromobility license applications for Bird rides and Spin. In addition, they will be reviewing the Committee Meetings Calendar, Strategic Initiatives Process and City Legislative Priorities for 2023.

City council meetings take place at 7 p.m. and are held at Hastings City Hall.
