Monday Mayor | Barstow – November 2022 | Local News

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving this past week, as we begin closing out the calendar year of 2022, there is certainly much to be thankful for!

The City of Barstow has continued building on its relationship with the United States Army in the signing of several historic Intergovernmental Support Agreements (IGSA) improving installation support for Mission, Soldier and Family Readiness, as well as bringing in additional revenue to the City’s general fund to assist with infrastructure improvements and citywide programs.

We are incredibly honored to be partnering with our military family at Ft. Irwin and look forward to a decade worth of opportunities!

The City of Barstow celebrated its 75th Anniversary (Incorporated in 1947) this year with a large community celebration held at the Historic Harvey House, where we were very proud to have announced the multi-billion-dollar BNSF “Barstow International Gateway” integrated rail complex project that will be constructed on over 4500 acres and provide up to 20k new jobs for the region, making the City of Barstow the Hub of the West.

As we standby for the results and official election certification from the San Bernardino County Registrar’s Office over the next couple of weeks, I would like to take a moment to extend my heartfelt congratulations to whomever the residents and voters of our community have elected and extend a hand of mutual cooperation as we look to move the City of Barstow forward expanding jobs and creating additional opportunities for our residents.

We will continue to be a better council and city if we look to focus on the issues, putting aside personality conflicts and differences, and focus on the greater picture that is more important than any one of us on council – the future generations who are looking to us to lead and guide this city into new and exciting chapters of history!
