Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight presented his proposed $47.4 million spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year during his budget address Friday morning at the Municipal Center.
The mayor says the city is experiencing growth and there are no proposed tax increases included in the budget.
In the way of expenditures, Mayor Knight is proposing 6.5 percent cost of living raise for city employees and he’s including $2 million for capital improvements.
Overall, Mayor Knight says it’s a fiscally sound budget that “puts Hopkinsville first.”
The budget projects payroll tax revenues to increase by 4 percent and insurance premium tax revenues to go up by 2 percent while keeping their current rates.
The Hopkinsville City Committee of the Whole will have an opportunity to look over the budget and potentially make changes before it gets to Hopkinsville City Council for first reading.
