NEW ULM– Tuesday, May 31, is the last day to file for candidacy in this year’s municipal elections.

This November, the 2nd Ward City Council seat, 4th Ward City Council seat and mayor are up for election. Currently five individuals have filed to appear on the ballot.

For the 2nd Ward City Council seat, incumbent Eric Warmka has filed to run for another term. He is the only candidate to file to appear on the ballot for this office.

The 4th Ward City Council seat will be contested. Incumbent Larry Mack filed to serve a third term. Michelle Markgraf has also filed to run for the 4th Ward seat.

Current Mayor Terry Sveine has announced he will not be seeking another term in office. Two candidates have filed to succeed Sveine: Lonnie Luepke and Jeff Kiecker.

The deadline to appear on the November ballot ends at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 31.
