KINGMAN – Kingman City Council could appoint a new councilmember at its upcoming meeting.

With only a handful of meetings left until new members are sworn in, the council will decide during the Tuesday, Oct. 3 meeting at 5 p.m. in council chambers, 310 N. 4th St., whether to appoint a new member.

The council voted against appointing a new vice mayor in September when current Mayor Ken Watkins was elevated from his role as vice mayor, leaving vacancies.

The Beale Street Infrastructure Project design services are also up for discussion. Previously, the project was funded by American Rescue Plan Act funds, however, staff has recommended the project move to a Construction Manager at Risk delivery method since APRA requirements included increased procurement for designs, bidding and building.

According to the agenda, the costs of the final design would increase by over $90,000 and total $520,055. Money would be used from the Capital Projects Fund.

Council will vote on a proposed Engineering Maintenance Improvement Project at the city’s engineering building. The project would address flooring, plumbing and painting and cost over $55,000 from the Water Operations Fund.

Council will also hear dog ordinances and enforcement updates, a police task force update, and a golf course update.

A report on Prop. 415, the proposed 0.56% sales tax increase Kingman voters will find on their November ballot, will be given.
