At-Large Carmel City Council member Jeff Worrell has announced his run for re-election. Worrell has been a council member since 2016 and has resided in Carmel for 33 years. Worrell will run as a Republican in the 2023 primary election.

In his time as a City Councilor, Worrell has played a critical role in several initiatives that have helped make Carmel the safe and successful city it is today. Most recently, Worrell led the charge for Carmel’s redistricting and amending and updating Carmel High School’s traffic and parking issues. He says residents and those in the midst of school traffic each day are thrilled with the results.
“I love the city of Carmel,” Worrell said. “Whether I’m helping residents make their neighborhoods safer by adding crosswalks, negotiating local income tax for Carmel, or growing CarmelFest to the event it is today, I’m proud to serve the city in any way I can.”
Over the last several years, Worrell has taken on the role of educating the city’s residents about its approach to financial decision making, fiscal responsibility, and debt. When it comes to the topic of debt and Carmel’s financial health, Worrell has written guest columns in the media, explained debt through videos for the public, and held quarterly town hall meetings throughout the city to answer questions.
Worrell is well-known for his commitment to the Carmel community, including his work over the last three decades in championing CarmelFest. In addition, Worrell founded Good Day Carmel, a daily e-newsletter providing the residents of Carmel with quality content that is informative while shining a positive light on the people and events of Carmel.
Currently, Worrell is CarmelFest board member, is the city council liaison for the Christkindlmarkt, and serves as the chair of the city council finance committee, and a former St. Vincent Carmel Hospital board member. He is a long-time Carmel Rotary member, has been on the Carmel Redevelopment Commission for 15 years, and is a past president of the Carmel City Council.
Worrell and his wife Shari have two adult children, Brad and Amy. Together, they enjoy the arts, traveling, running, snow skiing, and volunteering at their church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
“Through action, transparency, and trust, I know Carmel can continue to achieve greatness,” Worrell said.
