Easthampton City Council passes ceasefire resolution | #citycouncil

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The Easthampton City Council has passed a highly anticipated ceasefire resolution in the war in Gaza.

It calls for an immediate and sustained ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. It would also include the provision of lifesaving humanitarian aid in Gaza, the release of all hostages and detained on both sides, and an end to unconditional U.S. Aid to Israeli government. Many at Wednesday night’s meeting calling this resolution a significant step in addressing the ongoing crisis.

“People are dying, there is no end sight to this war and our tax payer dollars are helping to fund the bullets and the bombs that are killing people in this war and so we think it is really important that local communities weigh in,” said Sara Weinberger of Easthampton.

Easthampton is the 4th Pioneer Valley town to pass a ceasefire resolution. Northampton, Greenfield and Amherst have passed similar resolutions.
