Dixon City Council, Planning Commission to review Zoning Ordinance update in joint meetings – The Vacaville Reporter | #citycouncil

The Dixon City Council and Planning Commission are the two governing bodies that most often deal with zoning matters, primarily as separate entities. In a series of meetings throughout 2023, they will come together to discuss just that.

Both bodies will be holding three joint study sessions to review the initial drafts of an update to the Zoning Code Ordinance. The sessions will be held Jan. 31, March 20 and April 24.

Back in July 2021, the city began the process of working to update the Zoning Code for the first time in decades and make it more user-friendly in light of the recently adopted General Plan 2040. The study sessions are intended to allow the public to be part of the process.

The code will identify permitted uses within designated zones, provide for conditional and accessory uses, establish development standards such as building heights and landscaping, and allow for administrative procedures such as conditional use permits and design reviews.

“This process will shape future growth and help realize the community’s vision for Dixon as a safe, vibrant, and livable community with a robust local economy,” city officials wrote on a flyer for the sessions.

All sessions will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Council Chambers at City Hall, 600 East A St. For more information, go to Cityofdixon.us/zoningupdate or email planning@cityofdixon.us.
