DeSantis wants Sanders as running mate, Radar Online reports

Radar Online, a website known more for hot celebrity goss than breaking political news, reported on Thursday that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is strongly considering Arkansas Governor Sarah Sanders as his running mate in his presumed race for president.

According to the report, a source close to the DeSantis campaign said he wants to line up his running mate before announcing his intent to run for the top office

“He really only has one strong choice: Sarah,” the source told RadarOnline.com exclusively. “He is desperate to lock up his running mate before he makes his formal announcement. He would announce his VP candidate very soon afterward.”

“He thinks it will be a one-two punch and Republicans will be hard-pressed to look past a united front, especially if it is him and Sarah,” spilled the campaign insider.

The headline on the story referred to Sanders as DeSantis’ “frontrunner” but that term did not appear in the story.

The report pointed out that Sanders has not yet endorsed Trump, her boss during her two years as White House press secretary, in his bid for reelection. A source close to Sanders said she has her “foot in both camps,” according to the report.

“Part of her wants to embrace the new GOP and she believes DeSantis is the man,” the insider claimed. “But she is worried about Trump’s influence and the results of recent polls only shows that. The governor is keeping her powder dry.”

When Sanders gave the Republican response to the State of the Union earlier this year, she said “It’s time for a new generation of Republican leadership.”

We called Sanders’ office twice Friday to get spokeswoman Alexa Henning’s reaction to the story but we were unable to reach her.
